Chevrolet offers the Bolt EV and EUV with electric propulsion systems. Both vehicles are built on similar mechanical platforms with exclusive General Motors technologies.

An electric model receives most of its power from a single motor or a combination of several motors. Lithium-ion or nickel-metal hydride batteries supplement the electric motors. Such batteries are also typically integrated into hybrid vehicles, which don't always require an electric motor. Hybrid vehicles receive the majority of their power from an engine block that completes combustion cycles. Plug-in hybrid models use a combination of power from electricity and gasoline-based combustion. Plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs) have dedicated charging ports that are universally compatible with electrical outlets in the United States. Hybrid and plug-in hybrid cars often utilize regenerative braking mechanisms to convert heat energy to usable electricity. Additionally, such vehicles may have functions that temporarily shut off and restart the gasoline engines for optimum efficiency.

Chevrolet estimates that the Bolt EV has a maximum driving range of approximately 260 miles on paved highways. The Chevy Bolt EUV can run for up to 250 miles on a fully charged powertrain.

Electric Chevy cars are available with the DC Fast Charging System, which is optimized for power outlets rated at 240 peak volts. Using this rapid-charging technology, you can fully recharge a compatible model's electric powertrain in slightly less than 3 hours. If you use the standard Level I charging system connected to a 120-volt power outlet, you will have to wait approximately 7 hours to recharge the Bolt EV or Bolt EUV completely. Both electric Chevy cars have the patented Regen On Demand function that conserves electricity during a drive. You can also use the Energy Assist mobile application to manage various charging tasks in real-time.

Chevrolet doesn't design its electric models for towing a trailer. It would be best if you didn't try to modify the lightweight Bolt models for any towing capabilities.
