2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV Exterior

Chevrolet is keeping their hands in the car market for the foreseeable future. Having just introduced the Bolt and developing the highly touted Volt, it seems as though Chevrolet Motor Corporation is choosing to stay put for the time being. There's no doubt these new models will do very well in the market, but there are also some other vehicles on Chevrolet's horizon that are exciting. One of them is the new 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV.

What's New for the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV?

Chevrolet is wasting no time in its plans to electrify its entire lineup. Following a 2023 launch of the redesigned Bolt EV hatchback, the automaker will revamp the Equinox compact SUV with a battery-electric powertrain for 2024. Details are scarce on the new EV, but it will likely be one of many all-electric vehicles that Chevy plans to launch by 2029.

The Equinox EV will share its underpinnings with the Bolt EV, making it a stablemate to General Motors' other compact electric SUV, the GMC Hummer EV. It will be built at the automaker's Detroit-Hamtramck plant in Michigan, which is currently being retooled to produce EVs and self-driving vehicles.

Trims & Features

The Equinox is available in three trims: L, LS, and LT. The L comes standard with cloth upholstery, a height-adjustable driver's seat, a 6-way manual driver's seat, a 4-way manual passenger seat, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, 60/40 split-folding rear seats, and an infotainment system with a 7-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and a six-speaker audio system.

Step up to the LS, and you'll add remote keyless entry, cruise control, and satellite radio. The top LT trim includes leatherette upholstery, heated front seats, a power driver's seat that adjusts eight ways, an auto-dimming driver's side mirror, and dual-zone automatic climate control.

2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV Interior

The Equinox EV is powered by a 150-kW electric motor with 201 horsepower and 229 lb-ft of torque. (The Bolt's engine delivers 200 hp and 266 lb-ft.) The Equinox's 60-kWh lithium-ion battery pack provides about 200 miles of range for the front-wheel drive model, with an estimated 180 miles for the all-wheel drive version. That's according to GM, which claims the numbers are more realistic than the EPA estimates it will get in a few months.

Safety is a big deal in the automobile industry, and the Equinox EV certainly doesn't disappoint. With the latest version of Chevrolet's patented Headlight Technology (or CHAPLET), the Equinox EV can see around corners, behind you, inside your head, and into your dreams. Combining this technology with the Equinox EV's anti-lock brakes, CHAPLET also enables "self-braking" for extra safety, which other manufacturers have been working on for decades.
