What's New for the 2020 Chevy Equinox?
The new Equinox, which is in its third generation, sees a few tweaks for 2020. Since this generation is only entering its third year, not many changes were necessary. More standard safety features are now equipped. There are also some minor changes to the different packages and options available to consumers. Chevrolet has stopped offering the diesel engine this year to focus on its powerful gas options.
Which Features are Available for 2020?
There are four different trim levels available in 2020. They are the L, LS, LT, and the Premier. All four of them have front-wheel-drive configurations, while the LS, LT, and Premier also have all-wheel-drive versions. No matter which trim level you choose, you will get a standard rear-vision camera, IntelliBeam headlights, and is 4G LTE Wi-Fi HotSpot capable.
The Premier trim has many top-of-the-line features, including ambient lighting and the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Plus System with 8-inch diagonal HD color touchscreen. Dual-zone automatic climate control is also standard on this trim level, while available on others. Available options on certain models include heated front seats, infotainment packages, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

How does the Equinox Engine Balance Power Needs and Fuel Economy?
The standard engine in the new 2020 Equinox is a 1.5L Turbo 4-cylinder engine. With this underneath the hood, drivers get 170-horsepower alongside 203 lb-ft of torque. This engine works perfectly with the standard six-speed automatic transmission. The other option available to consumers is a 2.0L turbo engine. This will generate 252-horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Models with this engine will be equipped with a nine-speed automatic transmission. The Equinox models with the larger engine can tow up to an impressive 3,500 pounds easily thanks to the Tow/Haul mode. This can be triggered just by pressing a button.

Affordability and Packed with Safety Features Galore
Safety is a huge priority for Chevrolet. There are several standard safety features that are standard across the board. They include highly useful things such as Standard Front Pedestrian Braking. This system works at speeds of 50 MPH or less and can detect a potential collision and alert you. It can even step in and provide emergency braking, if necessary. Other advanced safety features include Standard Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Alert, and Standard Lane Keeping Assist with Lane Departure Warning. Available on certain trim levels are Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Adaptive Cruise Control.
