Now in its second production cycle, the Trax entered the 2019 model year virtually unchanged. However, this subcompact crossover SUV from Chevrolet is still refreshed from a facelift two years earlier.
Chevy Trax has Three Trims & Countless Features for 2019
The 2019 Chevy Trax is available in three flavors: the LS, the LT, and the Premier. It provides two rows of seats to accommodate up to five occupants, and passenger volume is measured at 92.8 cubic feet. Although the cargo volume—measured from the rear seats to the liftgate—is measured at 18.7 cubic feet, you can fold down the rear seats to expand it to 48.4 cubic feet. The Trax standard comfort and convenience features include a 3.5-inch driver information center, remote keyless entry, the OnStar communications suite, a Wi-Fi hotspot for 4G LTE Internet access, Bluetooth wireless technology for hands-free phone calling and audio streaming, six-speaker audio, smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Chevrolet Infotainment 3 for infotainment integration, and a 7-inch color touchscreen.
The LT has the addition of cruise control, remote start, and a three-month trial subscription to SiriusXM satellite radio. Only the Premier trim has a power sunroof, heated front seats with 6-way power adjustability on the driver’s seat, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, leatherette seat covering, an auto-dimming rearview mirror to dim headlight glare from behind you, keyless open and start ability (an upgrade of remote keyless entry), and a seven-speaker Bose audio system (instead of the six-speaker setup).
How Much Power does the 2019 Chevy Trax Have?
Powering the 2019 Chevy Trax is a 1.4-liter turbocharged inline 4-cylinder engine, which produces 138 horsepower and 148 lb-ft of torque and is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. At its basic front-engine, front-wheel-drive layout, the Trax provides a peak fuel economy of 26 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway. However, if you want to boost traction performance—especially on driving surfaces that are made slippery by rain, snow, or ice—you can choose the all-wheel-drive option over the front-wheel-drive system.
Packed with Safety Features
The standard safety features on the 2019 Chevy Trax include a rearview camera, an anti-lock braking system, StabiliTrak (for electronic vehicle stability and traction control), daytime running lamps, 10 airbags (two front impact airbags, two front-occupant knee airbags, two front seat-mounted side-impact airbags, and two front and two rear roof-mounted side curtain airbags), and a vehicle security system. On the LT and Premier, brighter and longer-lasting LEDs replace the halogen light bulbs in the daytime running lamps. Unique to the Premier are side blind zone alert, rear park assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and forward collision alert.
